Summer Wedding Guest Outfit Ideas....

July 26, 2017

Happy Wednesday!

I don't know about y'all, but I have a major case of wedding fever. I have noticed that almost every year, I go to a wedding-especially in the summer, and it is always exciting because it is the perfect excuse for me to buy a new outfit. (don't judge me!)

However, sometimes it is a little difficult to figure out what to wear. So I have round up different outfit ideas for 3 different types of weddings- black tie, semi-formal, and informal/non-traditional.

Black Tie

For a black tie wedding, opt for a more sophisticated dress with a sling back heel sandals or pumps. Accessorize with a beautiful clutch to elevate the look.

For a semi-formal wedding, choose a dress that is simple enough to accessorize and hugs your body in the right places. Be strategic with your accessories and focus more on the makeup to complete your look.

Choose a non-traditional outfit such as suits, pants paired with a nice blouse, a skirt with a top, rompers or jumpsuits. As long as the couple is okay with their guests wearing whatever they want, the possibilities of outfits are endless. In other words, there are no restrictions on what you wear as long as it is appropriate.

Lipstick Collection.....

July 24, 2017

Happy Monday!

I was always cautious when it came to buying different colored lipsticks and my go-to colors were pink and nude. However, I now love trying new colors and I have a staple color for every season.

For Spring, my primary color is the soft pink; for Summer, I love the bright orange lipstick; for Fall, I like the build burgundy lipstick; and for winter, I love a beautiful bold red lipstick.

Also, I am trying to build up my red lipstick collection, and I can't wait for the winter season. Well here is my collection and I hope you enjoy.

These are the different brands I own so far:
  1. Lancome
  2. Kat Von D
  3. Smashbox
  4. M.A.C
  5. NARS
  6. Stila
  7. Bite
  8. NYX
  9. Chanel
  10. Anastasia Beverly Hills
These are the brands that I want to try:

Makeup Storage.....

July 21, 2017

Shop this post...
Happy Friday!

Today's post is all about my makeup storage box and how it has helped me so far. I saw this clear glass storage box at Marshall's and immediately decided to buy it. I like how it is clear because I love seeing all the makeup products and it is easier to find a product when I'm getting ready.

Although it is small, I bought it to store my makeup for the meantime till I find a bigger and more sturdy one. So far, it has helped me with storing my makeup, however it is falling apart. I  don't like how weak and fragile it is. The first day I bought it, the chain part broke off. That was not expected.

Second, the divider in the middle has started to break on the sides. As a result, it is difficult to find the little sample sized products in the box. Finally, it is just too small and my collection keeps growing.

Hopefully, I can find another storage box. If any of you are looking for inexpensive storage boxes like mine, check Marshall's or HomeGoods- they usually carry these boxes.

That is it for today everyone; have a lovely weekend!

Natural Hair: My Go-to Hairstyle.....

July 17, 2017

Happy Monday!

Since I got my hair colored, this hairstyle has been my go-to style for school or for any special occasion. It is one of the easiest styles to do and it does not require awesome skills to achieve this look.

This is how I achieve this hairstyle and this can be done on freshly washed hair or dirty hair:

Step 1:

What I usually do is I put my hair in two-strand twists, flat twists, perm rod set, braid-out, or any style that I have time for, and this is usually done on my wash days.

Step 2:

Then on the day of whatever event I am going to that day, or school, I unravel the twist or take out whatever style I did, and then I separate my hair.

Step 3:

Next, I use a pick comb (afro-comb) to lift the roots up to for volume.

Step 4:

Afterwards, I smooth my hair back on the right side of my face using a Denman brush and then I bobby pin until it's laid flat. Optional: you can use edge control or gel to smooth the hair back but I prefer no gel or edge control. I just like how my hair looks without it.

Step 5 (optional):

Occasionally, I will bobby pin the left side also for the fro-hawk look. You can omit this step if you are not into the fro-hawk style.

Pink and Navy Blue.....

July 12, 2017

Happy Wednesday!

One of my favorite color combination is pink and blue, specifically baby pink or light pink and navy blue.

A little story of how I came to love this color combination:

About 2 years ago, I had an event to go to, and I had nothing to wear, absolutely NOTHING (excuse my exaggeration)! Unfortunately, I only had the day before to shop and I couldn't find anything that fit me (#lastminuteshoppersproblems). Long-story short, I found this skirt at H&M the day before the event and I found the top at Forever 21 the Saturday of the event (It was a three-day event). I loved how the top complimented the skirt so much that it was added to my list for favorite color combinations. The moral of the story is avoid last-minute shopping- it is the worse and annoying.

Style Tip:

If you have a navy blue skirt like mine, and you cannot figure out how to style it, then try to match it with the color pink- in all the shades. Another color that I think will look good with navy blue is orange-in all the shades as well. White is also such a beautiful color to match with this skirt too.
