Protective Hair For Summer.....

August 7, 2018

Being natural can be exhausting and discouraging at the same time. It is discouraging when you get to a point where you have absolutely no idea what to do with your hair. I lose all motivation and I get to a point where I desperately crave a new change with my hair like cutting it, dyeing it, or just changing it up in new ways that I can.

I have been wanting to change my hair all year and what better time to do it than the summer. So my protective hairstyle for this summer is the Fulani Braids. I did these braids my self and it is the easiest hairstyle to do for the summer. I added the hair jewelry to give it more of a festival aesthetic.

My only concern when I was doing these braids was the length because it is summer and I did not want to deal with long braids. But I find that the longer the braids, the better they look so I just stuck with the length.

So my tips are that if you're feeling bored with your hair or you do not know what to do with it:

  1. get some braids
  2. dye it
  3. shape it up
  4. get a wig
  5. do a big chop!
Your hair is your crowning glory and although it does not define you, it contributes to our sense of identity. So don't feel overwhelmed by it. Embrace the different seasons it go through and choose to control it but have fun while doing it.
