The Ordinary.....

February 19, 2018

Being the skincare addict that I am, I am constantly looking for new brands to try. There are many brands out on the market that sometimes it's difficult to commit to just one. Before I try a new brand, I spend a lot of time researching about it and its products. One particular brand that I've been wanting to try was the Ordinary and I finally purchased four products from them about a month ago.

The Ordinary has taken the beauty market by storm. What attracted me to this brand was the price and the ingredients in their products. All of their products does not contain "parabens  (which are chemicals that can interfere with hormones such as estrogen), sulphates, mineral oil, animal oils", and other harmful substances(more info here). And they do not test on animals.

I have been using these products for the past four weeks and I have noticed a difference in my skin. I have noticed that my skin is more softer; my dark spots are slowly fading, and I have not gotten any pimples in the past month. Also, I have been eating more healthier so that also contributes to the overall health of my skin.

The Products...

This toner contains 7% glycolic acid which is an AHA (alpha hydroxyl acid) that "exfoliates the skin" ( This product is supposed to exfoliate and  improve radiance and clarity of the skin. The main ingredients are "glycolic acid, amino acids, aloe vera, ginseng, and tasmanian pepperberry "(more info here). I use this product right after I cleanse my face. It doesn't sting my skin and my skin feels refreshed after using it.

Salicylic acid is known to be one of the most powerful and active acid for fighting blemishes. It is BHA (beta hydroxyl acid) that also "exfoliates the skin"( This product has 2% salicylic acid and witch hazel in it (click here for more). I use this product after I apply the toner. I have noticed that the blackheads on my nose are less visible than they used to be.

This serum is said to" reduce spots and hyperpigmentation". I use this after I apply the salicylic acid solution. Honestly, I don't know if I like this product. I don't have any hyperpigmentation and my spots are not that big so I can't say much about it. Also, I like serums that improves the skin's elasticity and I was hoping this product would do that, but so far, it has not. So I will not be repurchasing this.

I am a skeptic when it comes to natural oils that can be used on the skin, because I have tried natural oils like coconut, olive, grapeseed, and almond on my face and I disliked how they made my face feel afterwards, especially coconut oil. I get rashes everytime I use coconut oil on my face. So I was a little hesistant to buy this oil, but I've heard great things about Marula oil so I decided to give it a try. Marula oil is rich with antioxidant and it's referred to as a "luxrury oil"( I love this oil! It hydrates my face and has definetly helped improve the radiance of skin.

Overall, I do like this brand, and I think their products are an amazing quality, especially for the price. I will definetly encourage you all to try prodcuts from this brand.
